मूलरूप से मानिला, अल्मोड़ा निवासी इन बहनों का मायका कैंट एरिया बरेली में है। इनके पिता स्व. रूप सिंह 1991 में आर्मी से सेवानिवृत्त थे। मां लीला घुघत्याल गृहणी हैं। एक बेटा और पांच बेटियों में चार बहनें उत्तराखंड पुलिस में सेवा दे रही हैं। पिता ने सेवानिवृत्त के बाद से ही पिता ने बेटियों को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने की ठान ली। बेटियों ने भी पिता के सपने को पूरा करने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी।

बड़ी बेटी जानकी बोरा बीएससी की पढ़ाई के दौरान वर्ष 1997 में पुलिस में बतौर सिपाही भर्ती हो गई। तीसरे नंबर की बेटी कुमकुम धानिक वर्ष 2002 में सिपाही बनीं। इनके बाद वर्ष 2005 में अंजलि भंडारी सिपाही बन गई। सबसे छोटी बहन गोल्डी घुघत्याल वर्ष 2015 में सीधे दारोगा बनीं।

इस समय जानकी नरेंद्र नगर में हेड कांस्टेबल की ट्रैनिंग ले रही हैं। अंजलि पीएसी देहरादून में हेड कांस्टेबल है। वहीं कुमकुम डीआइजी कैंप कार्यालय हल्द्वानी में दारोगा व गोल्डी ऊधमसिंह नगर में दारोगा पद पर तैनात है।

बेटियों को कभी नहीं पहनने दिया सूट

आर्मी से सेवानिवृत्त रूप सिंह की सोच अन्य लोगों से अलग थी। लोग जहां अपने बच्चों को सूट में रहने की सलाह देते थे। वहीं रूप सिंह ने बेटियों को कभी सूट नहीं पहनने दिया। दारोगा कुमकुम बताती है कि पिता मानते थे बेटियां सूट पहनेंगी तो अपने को कमजोर समझ सकती हैं। सभी बहनें हमेशा ट्रैक सूट या अन्य कपड़े पहनकर रहती थीं। पिता बेटियों का हमेशा मनोबल बढ़ाने का प्रयास करते थे।

सफलता का यह रहा मूल मंत्र

दारोगा कुमकुम का कहना है कि पिता आर्मी से सेवानिवृत्त होकर आए। तब मानदेय बहुत कम था। उनके परिवार की स्थिति उतनी अच्छी नहीं थी। परिवार की आर्थिक स्थिति को मजबूत करने व अपने पैरों में खड़ा होने के लिए सभी बहनों ने एक-दूसरे को देखकर आगे बढऩे की ठान ली।
