घायलों को आईटीबीपी कोपांग व पुलिस ने सेना अस्पताल हर्षिल पहुंचाया, जहां गंभीर घायल एक पुरुष व एक महिला की मौत हो गई। अन्य को प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद जिला अस्पताल रेफर किया गया। यहां से दो अन्य गंभीर घायलों को हायर सेंटर देहरादून रेफर किया गया है। वहीं एक को प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद डिस्चार्ज किया गया।
रविवार रात लगभग 12:20 बजे एक यात्री टेंपो ट्रेवलर वाहन अनियंत्रित होकर 100 मीटर गहरी खाई में जा गिरा। वाहन में चालक सहित 15 लोग सवार थे, जो सभी घायल हो गए। हादसे की सूचना पर कोपांग में तैनात आईटीबीपी और हर्षिल पुलिस मौके पर पहुंची। संयुक्त रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन चलाते हुए सभी को खाई से निकाला गया, जिन्हें हर्षिल स्थित सेना अस्पताल में पहुंचाया गया। यहां गंभीर घायल अलका (45) पत्नी वेंकटेश निवासी औरंगाबाद महाराष्ट्र और कार्तिक माधवन निवासी कोयमबटूर, कर्नाटक (पत्रकार) की मौत हो गई। बाद में सभी घायलों को प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद चिकित्सकों ने जिला अस्पताल उत्तरकाशी रेफर किया। यहां अर्नव महरोती व विशाली की गंभीर हालत को देखते हुए दोनों को हायर सेंटर देहरादून रेफर किया गया। एक घायल वेंकटेश को प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद अस्पताल से छुट्टी दे दी गई। हादसे के कारणों का पता नहीं चल पाया है। हादसे में मृतक और घायलों में अधिकांश औरंगाबाद महाराष्ट्र निवासी हैं।

नौ बजे हर्षिल से चला था वाहन
कोपांग में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होने वाला वाहन 9 बजे हर्षिल से गंगोत्री के लिए चला था। क्योंकि पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों में आवागमन रात 10 बजे बाद बंद है। इसलिए हर्षिल में वाहन को रोका नहीं गया। हर्षिल के बाद पुलिस बैरियर भैरवघाटी में है, लेकिन यहां पहुंचने से पांच किमी पहले ही वाहन दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया। हर्षिल थानाध्यक्ष दिलमोहन नेगी ने बताया कि वाहन के यात्रियों ने गंगोत्री में एक होटल बुक किया था। होटल के कर्मचारी रात 11 बजे तक यात्रियों का इंतजार कर रहे थे। एसओ दिलमोहन ने कहा कि देर रात वाहनों के आवागमन पर सख्ती बरती जाएगी।
