उत्तराखंड में करीब 110 लोगों में से एक व्यक्ति भांग से बने ड्रग्स का सेवन करता है। यह कुल जनसंख्या की 0.9 प्रतिशत आबादी है। प्रदेश का यह प्रतिशत राष्ट्रीय औसत से 0.7 से भी अधिक है
ऐसे में सीएम पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने तीन वर्षों के भीतर प्रदेश को ड्रग्स मुक्त करने का लक्ष्य रखा है। हालांकि, पुलिस इसमें कितनी कारगर होती है, यह तो आने वाला वक्त बताएगा, लेकिन यह सरकार और पुलिस दोनों के लिए चिंता का विषय है।
पुलिस लाइन में कार्यशाला के दौरान अधिकारियों में इस बात को लेकर काफी चिंता थी। मामले में एसटीएफ ने देशभर में तमाम स्टडी का अवलोकन किया है। ड्रग्स लेने के मामले में उत्तराखंड की यह चिंता पैदा करने वाली स्थिति नजर आती है। संस्था ने यह स्टडी चरस और गांजा का नशा करने वालों पर की है। इसके अनुसार, देशभर में करीब 1.30 करोड़ लोग चरस और गांजा का नशा करते हैं।
यह कुल जनसंख्या का करीब 0.7 प्रतिशत है, जबकि उत्तराखंड का यह प्रतिशत 0.9 है। यह संख्या वर्तमान में अनुमानित जनसंख्या के हिसाब से 1.12 लाख होती है। इस हिसाब से प्रदेश में लगभग 110 लोगों में से एक व्यक्ति चरस और गांजे का सेवन करता है।

दून में 15,000 लोग करते हैं नशा एसएसपी दलीप सिंह कुंवर ने बताया कि उन्होंने थाना स्तर पर एक रिपोर्ट तैयार कराई है, जो लोग नशा मुक्ति केंद्रों में रह रहे हैं। उनके संपर्क में आने वाले लोगों से भी संपर्क किया गया है। पुलिस ने अपने-अपने क्षेत्रों में पता किया है। इससे ड्रग्स लेने वालों का आंकड़ा करीब 15,000 आया है। इसके लिए वृहद स्तर पर एक कार्ययोजना बनाई जा रही है।
