जानकारी के अनुसार, देर रात सिटी कंट्रोल रूम की ओर से एसडीआरएफ को कुछ युवकों के नदी में फंसे होने की सूचना मिली थी। एसटीआरएफ की टीम मौके पर पहुंची तो वहां पांच युवक टापू पर फंसे थे।
उन्होंने बताया कि गौतम कुमार पुत्र रामकिशन, उम्र- 37 वर्ष, निवासी- ईश्वर विहार, रायपुर देहरादून, कोशिन्द्र पुत्र बलजीत सिंह, 23 वर्ष, हाल निवासी- मंदाकिनी विहार, रायपुर, प्रवीण सिंह पुत्र सोमपाल, 28 वर्ष, निकट रायपुर थाना काली मंदिर, देहरादून, सोकिम कुमार पुत्र सोमपाल, 30 वर्ष, मनोज कुमार पुत्र सोमपाल, 23 वर्ष, मालदेवता नदी के पास पिकनिक मनाने गए थे। इस दौरान वे नदी में भी चले गए। लेकिन अचानक नदी का जलस्तर बढ़ गया और वे वहीं फंस गए।
