इस परियोजना को जून 2025 में पूरा करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। ऑलवेदर रोड परियोजना के दूसरे चरण में इस महत्वाकांक्षी सुरंग का निर्माण किया जा रहा है।
जिला मुख्यालय में ऋषिकेश-बदरीनाथ व रुद्रप्रयाग-गौरीकुंड राजमार्ग को जोड़ने के लिए निर्माणाधीन 910 मीटर लंबी सुरंग दीपावली पर्व पर आरपार कर दी जाएगी। कार्यदायी संस्था की ओर से सुरंग के दोनों छोर पर तेजी से कार्य किया जा रहा है।
साथ ही इस पुल को दोनों हाईवे से जोड़ने के लिए अलकनंदा नदी पर 200 मीटर लंबे पुल निर्माण के लिए एबेडमेंट खुदाई अंतिम चरण में पहुंच गई है। इस परियोजना को जून 2025 में पूरा करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। ऑलवेदर रोड परियोजना के दूसरे चरण में इस महत्वाकांक्षी सुरंग का निर्माण किया जा रहा है।
बीते वर्ष तीन दिसंबर को कार्यदायी संस्था ने भूमि पूजन के साथ सुरंग का निर्माण कार्य शुरू किया गया था। 910 मीटर लंबी सुरंग में से अभी तक 850 मीटर खुदाई हो चुकी है। सुरंग के बनने से गौरीकुंड हाईवे का बदरीनाथ हाईवे से जहां सीधा संपर्क हो जाएगा। वहीं, केदारनाथ तिराहे से बेलणी पुल तक यात्राकाल व अन्य समय पर लगने वाले जाम से भी मुक्ति मिलेगी।
खास बात है कि सुरंग व पुल बनने से अगस्त्यमुनि ब्लॉक के तल्लानागपुर, धनपुर, रानीगढ़ पट्टी के गांवों का गौरीकुंड राजमार्ग से सीधा संपर्क हो जाएगा। साथ ही जखोली ब्लॉक के भरदार सहित केदारघाटी के लोगों की जिला कार्यालय, विकास भवन, सीएमओ कार्यालय तक आवाजाही सुलभ हो जाएगी। यह सुरंग पर्यटन के लिहाज से भी महत्वपूर्ण होगी।
बीआरओ ने 2008-09 में तैयार किया प्रस्ताव
जिला मुख्यालय रुद्रप्रयाग में यात्राकाल में लगने वाले जाम व सुरक्षित यातायात को लेकर बीआरओ ने वर्ष 2008-09 में सुरंग निर्माण का प्रस्ताव तैयार कर भारत सरकार को भेजा था। वर्ष 2016 में सड़क एवं परिवहन मंत्रालय ने मंजूरी दी। इसके बाद तीन चरणों में सुरंग निर्माण का सर्वेक्षण किया गया। सर्वे की रिपोर्ट पर वर्ष 2019 में भारत सरकार ने सुरंग निर्माण की स्वीकृति प्रदान करते हुए इसे ऑलवेदर रोड परियोजना के दूसरे चरण में शामिल किया। साथ ही सुरंग और अलकनंदा नदी पर पुल निर्माण के लिए 200 करोड़ की सैद्धांतिक स्वीकृति भी दी। जरूरी औपचारिकताओं को पूरा करने के बाद अंतिम डीपीआर के आधार पर सुरंग व पुल निर्माण का बजट 156 करोड़ कर दिया गया।
बेलणी पुल से दबाव होगा कम
सुरंग और पुल के निर्माण से केदारघाटी व केदारनाथ को जोड़ने वाले बेलणी पुल से भी वाहनों का दबाव कम हो जाएगा। वर्तमान में इसी पुल से केदारनाथ यात्रा का संचालन हो रहा है, लेकिन पुल काफी जर्जर है, जिससे भारी वाहनों की आवाजाही पर रोक लगी है। एनएच द्वारा पुल की मरम्मत की गई है। आगामी समय में इसकी भार क्षमता भी बढ़ाई जानी है।

The 910 meter long tunnel under construction to connect Rishikesh-Badrinath and Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway in the district headquarters will be crossed on Diwali festival. Work is being done at a rapid pace on both ends of the tunnel by the executing agency.
Also, the abatement excavation for the construction of a 200 meter long bridge on the Alaknanda River to connect this bridge to both the highways has reached the final stage. This project is targeted to be completed in June 2025. This ambitious tunnel is being constructed in the second phase of the All Weather Road Project.
The construction work of the tunnel was started with the Bhoomi Pujan by the executing organization on December 3 last year. Out of the 910 meter long tunnel, 850 meters have been excavated so far. With the construction of the tunnel, Gaurikund Highway will have direct connection with Badrinath Highway. At the same time, there will be relief from traffic jam during travel time and at other times from Kedarnath Tirahe to Belani bridge.
The special thing is that with the construction of the tunnel and bridge, the villages of Tallanagpur, Dhanpur and Ranigarh belt of Agastyamuni block will have direct connection with the Gaurikund Highway. Besides, the movement of people of Kedar Ghati including Bhardar of Jakholi block will become easier till the district office, Vikas Bhawan, CMO office. This tunnel will also be important from tourism point of view.
BRO prepared the proposal in 2008-09
In the year 2008-09, BRO had prepared a proposal for the construction of a tunnel and sent it to the Government of India regarding the traffic jams and safe traffic during travel time in the district headquarters Rudraprayag. Approved by the Ministry of Roads and Transport in the year 2016. After this, survey of tunnel construction was done in three phases. Based on the survey report, in the year 2019, the Government of India approved the construction of the tunnel and included it in the second phase of the All Weather Road Project. Besides, in-principle approval of Rs 200 crore was also given for the construction of tunnel and bridge on Alaknanda river. After completing the necessary formalities, on the basis of the final DPR, the budget for tunnel and bridge construction was reduced to Rs 156 crore.
Cylinder bridge will reduce pressure
With the construction of the tunnel and the bridge, the pressure of vehicles on the Belani bridge connecting Kedar Ghati and Kedarnath will also be reduced. Presently Kedarnath Yatra is being conducted from this bridge, but the bridge is quite dilapidated, due to which the movement of heavy vehicles has been restricted. The bridge has been repaired by NH. Its load capacity is also to be increased in the coming time.
The 910 meter long tunnel will be crossed on Diwali. So far 850 meters of excavation has been done from both ends. Besides, the excavation of embedment for the construction of bridge on Alaknanda river is also going on in the final stage. The construction of the bridge is targeted to be completed in June 2025.
